Interesting she said that Singaporean should not have and accent and speak proper English. Proper/Standard English is one which has no regional variations. Like Received Pronunciation (RP), spoken without regional variations as well. This is spoken in media and public figures portraying THE way English is.
By doing such, it breaks the level of intimacy we Singaporeans have when we use is speaking to a fellow Singaporean.
